Wow, talk about not being consistent! I write it on my Daily Planner- update blog, but then life happens, and I don’t end up updating y’all. Anyone here actually care what I’ve been up to? Hehe. It’s more of a space for me to release my thoughts and share what I’ve been up to so that I can also look back on it and track my thoughts, my progress, and my life.
Since my last running update, I have virtually ran the Pasadena Half Marathon, yay me! I completed a 30k (18.6 miles), AND this past weekend I completed the virtual LA Marathon! I have officially conquered LA for 2021! I’ll be honest and say that I wasn’t sure I could mentally run a full marathon with it not being in person, but my Co-Coach for SRLA and I created a route, got us some cheerleaders, and off we went to Santa Monica to run 26.2 miles! We hit a hiccup on the road when we got to Marina Del Rey, but we eventually got back on the beach bike path. We had run way more mileage by that point, and decided to switch up our original route so that we didn’t have to run through Marina Del Rey again. We extended our route and ran to Hermosa Beach and crossed our finish line at Dockweiler Beach!
A huge shout out to my fiance, Jay, and our friends, Steph and Chris, and our after school site coordinator for coming out to support us with snacks, water, and Pedialyte! I don’t think we could have done it without their support and cheers along the way. It’s not hard to believe that running a marathon with thousands of others vs. running it with just one other person is not the same- but boy, was my mental strength tested! I don’t think there was ever a part of me that didn’t think I could do it WHILE I was actually running, but leading up to the run, I had to constantly give myself pep talks to tell myself that I could do this. AND THAT I DID!

It’s been two days (when I wrote this) since the run and I am exhausted, my body is sore still, but I am still super proud of myself and want to keep shouting it from the rooftops that I ran a marathon this past weekend! hehe.
UPDATE: It’s now been 5 days and the soreness thankfully, didn’t last too long, but the exhaustion did. I have decided to take this week off from running to just let myself rest, but I am itching to get back on the tread. My training for the Chicago Marathon starts next week! I need to sit down and write down my goal for that one because I know I want it to be more than “just finish.”
Quick update about work: we have 4 weeks left of Distance Learning and I am looking forward to summer. Before I can revel in the beauty of summer though, I must continue to prep my AP students for their AP Exam on June 7th and ensure that all of my students finish their English class on a strong note. So much to do, so little time. I am stressed, but I also know that I got this! I didn’t come this far to only come this far. I’m so proud of my students who decided to stick it out and didn’t go MIA during Distance Learning. I know it has not been easy for a lot of them. I also hope those that did disappear, that they come back ready to learn next year or during the summer so that they do not continue to fall behind.

Update on wedding planning: we are 58 days away from our big day, and I am so excited! I had my first dress alterations appointment last week, and I was so happy to put on my gown again! It was also nice to see that my running and my attempt at healthy eating is paying off because it was already loose around my wait and hips! Yay, me! I can’t wait to wear it! I can’t wait for Jay to see me in it! Eek! There is still a good amount of items left on our To Manifest list in order to prepare for the big day, but we got this! Jay has been a phenomenal wedding planner, and we wouldn’t be this far along in the planning stages if it weren’t for him, so shoutout to you, boo! ❤
That’s it for now before it becomes even longer, again! Thanks for reading, and thanks for joining me on this adventure I call my life! One love! ❤
