So much for updating more frequently! 🤦♀️ I shall continue to work on this. 😅
My SRLA season has officially come to an end with our Culminating Cross the Finish Line Challenge! As coaches we could decide how we wanted our students to end the season since the actual LA Marathon got pushed to November 7th (by then we’d be into next year’s SRLA season). My Primary Coach and the rest of us coaches decided to give our students a few options to finish their season strong. One of the options was to run 5.24 miles in five consecutive days to still give them some sort of a challenge of running back to back. I chose this option as well and was proud of my accomplishment! Peep my Fitness Instagram (@FitChiquitaLynda) screenshot of my posts throwing up the five fingers for the mileage:

Only three of those photos have the five fingers up because one is a double post since I forgot to post, AND the last one is a double celebratory post because with that last fifth day, I also accomplished my second 100-miles (not in one month though, a girl’s gotta rest…hehe). This one was the “I AM ENOUGH” Challenge- where you run/walk 100 miles in no set time frame. I ran/walked 100 miles in February (63) and March (37).

I rocked the finisher’s shirt for my last 5.24 miles and then put on the medal for my photo! I will say that I have never run 5+ miles a day back to back and boy, was it exhausting. My body is clearly not used to that amount of mileage so consistently, but it was good to see that I could still get it done. The last day was brutal. I was so tired after working all day, and I could not stop yawning. Usually, I watch Law & Order: SVU or Criminal Minds while I run because it keeps me hooked on the show and the miles pass by; however, even Criminal Minds couldn’t keep me entertained for long enough. The last mile, I decided to turn it off and put on my Spotify running list, and WHAT A DIFFERENCE THAT MADE! I was jamming out to Missy Elliot and two and a half songs later, I was done with my mileage!
It was at that point that I realized why I am so much faster on the road than I am on the tread: it’s because outside I run and listen to music and jam out in my head as I run. When I’m indoors, I slow it down as I watch tv and don’t have the music pumping me up! It all makes sense now! Good to know that I can put music on while on the treadmill and speed up, so I will definitely do that more often as well.
The virtual Rose Bowl Half Marathon is next month and so I’ll continue to train and run especially because the LA Marathon still looms in the distance AND the Chicago Marathon is waiting for me come October! If you want to donate to Pediatric Cancer Research, please consider donating to my charity that I picked for the Chicago Marathon: Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation. I am running in honor of Jazzy and in memory of Jonny, Hazel, Anahi, and Candace – angels that all have a special place in my heart. Here is my link: www.alexslemonade.org/mypage/2046818
Any amount seriously helps and gets me one step closer to reaching my goal of $1750. Thank you in advance!

I’ll end this here and be back tomorrow with another update in a different part of my life because this blog got long enough on its own and it’s all about running! 😅
Get out there and move. One love. ❤
