I left y’all with a slight update on my life since my previous post nine months ago. Like I mentioned before, a lot more has happened! The two biggest updates aside from getting our puppy is that I got engaged and bought a house with my fiance´!
Never in my wildest dreams did I think that we’d be buying a house so soon yet alone during a pandemic, but as fate would have it– we started looking and all the stars aligned and we were able to purchase our first home. Our old place was quite small for what we were paying and a lot of the amenities were closed due to COVID-19, so we decided to start investing that rent money into a home instead of just throwing it away on a place that wasn’t ours. We weren’t happy there any longer and management was not the best. We looked at so many houses online, but none really caught my attention nor did I feel that they were worth going to see in person (hello, covid) until J showed me one and I said yes to seeing it. We loved the fact that it had a pool, and the layout of the house wasn’t too bad. We put in an offer, but unfortunately, our offer was not accepted. I told J it just meant that there was a better house out there for us. Despite the initial disappointment, we kept looking. We did see two other houses in person, and ended up falling in love with the third house. We put in an offer, and voila, it was meant to be ours as our offer got accepted! Here I am, 3 months after we moved in, writing this blog in our library. We have our OWN LIBRARY! It’s unbelievable to me, but I’m also ever so appreciative of the space we have. Our puppy has a yard to play in and plenty of room to roam around (when he’s not in his pen…hehe), and we have our space too.

On September 26th, when we had planned to take pictures with the SOLD sign- you know, the cheesy pics that new homeowners take? Well, J surprised me with a proposal! I was super shocked and oh, so happy! He got some help from my bestie and she was here to record it all (even though I had been thinking the whole time that she had been out of town. hehe. She got me!). We had brought our puppy because I wanted him in the pictures, and on the way over, he kept saying how he wanted Dodger to get acclimated to the backyard, which I thought was a bit weird, but whatever. Turns out he didn’t want Dodger sniffing out my bestie who was hiding in the closet upstairs! hehe. He led me upstairs where he gave me two envelopes. One was a card from him where he essentially wrote out why he wanted to marry me, and then gave me a box of two champagne wedding flutes (“his” had a tux on it and “hers” had white frill on it). When I opened those and looked at him, he was on one knee and asked me to marry him! Of course, I said yes and in the video you can hear me saying that he’s making me cry before the pictures, to which he says, “Don’t worry, we already got some pictures.” I was so confused because we were standing in our empty bedroom, but that’s when he slid the closet door open and out came my bestie! lol. She said she had completely removed herself from the city so that I wouldn’t get any ideas that he’d be proposing at that moment, and it totally worked! It was such a sweet proposal and I wouldn’t change it for the world! My ring is gorgeous and this man just knows how to woo me. He had written to my mom to ask for her permission to marry me and that’s what the second card was– her response. To say that there were many tears shed is an understatement! We continued taking photos and popped some Dom Perignon Champagne to celebrate the momentous occasion!
Now, we’re trying to figure out how we want our wedding to be because COVID is still rampant and it doesn’t look like it will let down any time soon. We may do something small and intimate because at the end of the day, what’s most important for us is that we celebrate the sacrament of marriage under God. Stay tuned for more wedding planning updates! One love. ❤
