Day 6 of Social Isolation

These days are starting to get a little bit harder, I’m not going to lie. I tossed and turned all night and then woke up excited to finally go workout outdoors, except I didn’t check the weather and forgot it was supposed to rain. Doh! I literally opened the door to the sound of the rain and then turned right back around and went inside. Womp womp.

I ended up checking my email, replying to student questions, and then making breakfast–eggs, bacon, and hashbrowns for the win! I cleaned up then I saw a friend’s story that the Cathedral of Los Angeles was going to do a livestream of praying the rosary at 1pm with the Pope in the Vatican, so I waited around for that. I felt the need to connect to my faith during this weird time aside from my own daily prayers, and I have to admit that it felt so good to pray with almost 6k people who were also watching the livestream. There’s a bible verse I always think of when I gather to pray with a group, “For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them” (Matthew 18:20), and today I felt it. As I lit my Virgen de Guadalupe candle and prayed with my rosary from the Vatican, my heart felt at peace if even for that half hour. I know not a lot of adults in my age group are practicing Catholics, but to continuously see that number in the right corner go up, it felt so nice to be connected.

After praying the rosary, I ventured out to go grocery shopping. I literally had not been out since Friday, so it felt weird but also nice to be out even if just for groceries. As I baked later on, I tuned into my sister’s virtual Open Mic night on Instagram! I made banana bread for the first time and it’s quite delicious! I’m glad my sister was able to stream her open mic night and give a space to poets and artists to share with others especially since we’re all in social isolation. They inspired me to actualize the itch that I’ve been feeling to write poetry again, so stay tuned!

Ended my night with another workout from Body Boss Method. Check out my fitness Instagram if you want (@fitchiquitaLynda)! Today’s focus was on abs and some arms, which worked out because my legs still felt sore from Tuesday’s workout! I do miss Orangetheory though! 😦 I still don’t think that I’ve fully processed the “Safer at Home” measure that was issued tonight, so stay tuned for those emotions as they hit me. :/

I’m really glad I started this blog even if it ends up just being for myself; it really feels therapeutic to write and express my thoughts on paper/computer. If you’re reading this, I hope that you had as good a day as possible with this social isolation. ❀ One love.
